Singing Lessons
Natalie Claire Woodcock offers private singing lessons to adults and teens at her Engadine music studio. She teaches students preparing for HSC, AMEB or uni exams, adults learning for fun and advanced singers wanting to perfect their technique and prepare for professional work.
Natalie is a lifelong learner of vocal pedagogy so she can strive to be the best teacher she can be for my students. Natalie will help you build on what’s natural, what’s working, identify where you need development and create pathways for building a voice powered by balance and healthy function.
Natalie’s goal is to train students to properly to access all colours of their voice in a healthy functional way. Advanced students can eventually develop the skills to cross-over and perform legitimately in various styles. Eg, sing a strong belt in a big musical theatre song, sing jazz or perform a classical aria.
Natalie is an experienced professional performer who has a working knowledge of the music industry which is a great asset to her singing students. Natalie teaches her students what the vocal world may demand of them, and how they can maintain a healthy and long career. Lessons are holistic including practical elements relevant to you such as stagecraft, performance anxiety and strategies, improvisation, microphone technique and performance career guidance.
Natalie has taught vocal technique for performance speaking (eg drama/public speaking/teachers suffering vocal fatigue). She has also had students with speech impediments who have needed vocal training to improve their lisp or stutter.
Piano Lessons
Natalie offers private piano lessons to teens and adults at her Engadine music studio. Natalie is an experienced and encouraging piano teacher who uses proven methods to motivate home practise. The piano lessons are enjoyable, engaging and inspire students towards a lifelong enjoyment of playing music. Songs and teaching strategies are used that suit each student’s learning style, age and experience.
The contemporary pianist needs to be across a broad and ever expanding range of skill sets. Natalie’s lessons cover a range of essential skills such developing aural skills, analysis of arrangements, accompaniment, arrangement and artist development.
HSC Music Tutoring
Natalie is an experienced high school music teacher with a thorough knowledge of the Music 1, Music 2 and Extension Courses. The HSC music coaching can be used to prepare for written, listening and aural exams, musicology viva voce/essays, compositions and performances.
Natalie makes everything easy to understand and breaks it down into checklists and formulas that ensure students can tackle any exam question.
Natalie regularly attends teacher training workshops to keep up to date with HSC Music.
Student Achievements
Achievements by Natalie’s singing students include securing roles in professional musicals such as the Sound of Music, successful auditions for professional work such as Cruise Line Entertainer, acceptance into tertiary singing courses such as WAPPA, Conservatorium of Music and AIM, finalists in Eisteddfods such as McDonalds Sydney Eisteddfod, Band 6 for HSC Music and A+ for AMEB exams. Recent achievements of Natalie’s private singing students: received role of ‘Katie’ in professional Sydney production of ‘School of Rock- the Musical’, full scholarship to Danebank college (due to music application), 50% scholarship to Inaburra School (due to music application) and winner of ‘Sydney Eisteddfod Musical Theatre Under 9’s’.
